Saudi Arabia Security Forces Arrested a Terrorist Group Related to Medina Bombing

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki announced that the security forces of Saudi Arabia have arrested 46 people suspected of belonging to a terrorist cell responsible for the attack outside Medina last year – one of the holiest Islam sites.

Al-Turki spoke to reporters Sunday in Riyadh and said that the group was also behind a suicide bombing near the U.S. consulate in Jiddah. According to the information 32 of those arrested are Saudis, while the 14 others are from Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan and Jordan.

The ministry previously identified the Medina bomber as a Saudi national and the Jiddah bomber as a Pakistani resident. Both attacks took place in July 2016 during the final days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
