Obsidian Ready to Embark on Fallout: New Vegas 2
Obsidian Entertainment, Inc. came to prominence by making game sequels based on licensed properties. It looks like this year’s big venture would be no different.
Fallout 4 Release
Three months ago, we blogged about Obsidian’s plans to come up with new ideas for Fallout 4: New Vegas. A new feature that caught our attention was the improved game environment that features realistic weather conditions, from snows to storms.
While it may be one of the most anticipated mods of 2018, the studio has yet to announce a release date and this new development could very well be the reason behind it.
Bethesda and Fallout: New Vegas 2
In February, Attack of the Fanboy wrote that Bethesda Game Studios might also be gearing up to release their own Fallout 4 mod. And such plans could possibly affect Obsidian’s own release. Instead of Fallout 4, they could very well come out with Fallout: New Vegas 2. Whatever path that leads, Obsidian is ready.
According to its CEO Feargus Urquhart, the studio is ready to come with their own version that’s entirely different from whatever Bethesda is working on.
During a 2013 interview, he had this to say.
“If I think of going from Fallout 1 to Fallout 2, we tried to associate the two areas somewhat closely,”…It wasn’t just ‘Oh, we’re gonna do this 2,000 miles from here.’ So I think if we were to do Fallout: New Vegas 2 – or just a new Fallout – we would probably separate it from what the internal team at Bethesda’s doing.”
Clueing gamers on a possible location, he added.
“We’d keep it on the West Coast, because we’re West Coast people. They’re East Coast, so it makes sense.”
And we need an interesting confined area. So I mean, it could be LA. Fallout LA. That could be interesting. It’d probably be The Boneyard, which is from Fallout 1. It could be very different. It could be almost a Walking Dead meets Fallout-like thing because of all the radiation.”
